McAleer & Rushe acquire prime freehold development site in Leiceister Square, London

McAleer & Rushe have purchased the freehold interest of the Swiss Centre at Leicester Square from British Land plc. The building is currently occupied on a number of short-term flexible leases including a cinema, restaurants, bars and a car park at lower levels, with offices above, totaling around 112,000 sq ft.

It sits on an island site in the heart of London’s West End entertainment district, in a prime position to the north side of Leicester Square. McAleer & Rushe intend to enter talks with Westminster Council about redeveloping the building as a mixed use scheme, which could include a hotel, cinema, retail and residential space.
